Overview

Commercial / Remote Capable System

A Commercial/Remote Capable System consists of an "Integrator" Base Station, one or more Turtle wristbands [and/or gate alarm sensors, pet turtles, and/or panic buttons...all sold separately] and [optionally] an add-on siren and/or extended range wireless transmitter/receiver.

The Integrator Base Station is different from the standard Safety Turtle Base Station because it has a three contact female jack that contains normally open, normally closed and common contacts. These contacts switch state the instant the Integrator Base Station starts alarming. This allows for direct connection to a home security system (such as our WisDom Wireless Alarm System), a wireless transmitter (such as a WisDom Universal Transmitter), or an add-on siren.

A Commercial/Remote Capable System suits the following circumstances:

1. Desired alarm location is more than 150 - 200 ft. [45 - 60 m.] from immersion location or 50 ft. (15 m.) from a salt chlorinated pool.
2. Desired alarm location is more than 250 ft. [75 m] from the gate or panic button sensor location.
3. Alarming must occur both poolside and in the residence, as stipulated in ASTM Standard Specification for Pool Alarms F2208-02.
4. Alarm must be louder than 110 decibels, to be heard throughout the residence or outside.
5. The alarm must be communicated electronically, e.g., to home alarm, strobe light indicator, etc.

Multiple wristbands must be of the same color in order to work with a single base station.

YMCA/Public Pool Applications

The Safety Turtle has been creatively adapted for use in aquatic centers, where it is helping to reduce response times in emergencies. Lifeguards wear the Turtle wristband when on duty. If a lifeguard enters the water to attempt a rescue, a base station located poolside immediately alarms, as does one in the reception area. The alarms immediately inform other lifeguards and staff throughout the center that a rescue is in progress. These additional personnel can then respond and provide back-up to the lifeguard attempting the rescue. This backup, in some cases, can be essential to a lifeguard’s success during a rescue.

A Turtle attached to each lifeguard rescue buoy, which always goes into the water during a rescue, allows a single lifeguard to respond nearly immediately to an aquatic emergency, rather than having to travel from where s/he was standing to the emergency call button and then to the distressed swimmer.

The Safety Turtle also provides a layer of protection for rehabilitation patients who exercise in water. They wear a Turtle sun visor which instantly detects immersion in water, and then transmits a signal that sets off a loud alarm at one or more Base Stations.

The Child Immersion Alarm may also be used in conjunction with the Wireless Gate Alarm which helps enhance the security of a safety fence. The Wireless Gate Alarm will work with the same Base Station.

Safety Turtle is not a substitute for diligent supervision or an adequate barrier to restrict the access of children to water hazards.
